Roles and permissions
Every member of an ErgOps organization has one role. The role decides what they can see and change.
Organization roles#
| Role | Typically |
|---|---|
| Organization Manager | Manages the organization: settings, team, facility access, approvals and publishing decisions. Can do everything the other roles can. |
| Sustainability Manager | Runs the sustainability work across all facilities: data, calculations, targets, actions, reports and customers. |
| Facility Manager | Works on the assigned facilities: facilities, assets, meters and data, with View or Manage access per facility. |
| Viewer | Reads results and reports. Cannot change data. |
Some actions are limited to the Organization Manager, for example saving organization settings, inviting members, archiving customers, dismissing alerts, approving decarbonization portfolios, verifying measured impact and managing developer API keys.
Other kinds of access#
These are not organization roles:

| Customer viewer | A person at one of your customers | Viewing that customer's portal only. See Customer portal. |
| Group Manager / Group Viewer | People managing a group of organizations | Aggregate results across a group. See Groups and holdings. |
| Consultant access | A consultancy you work with | Read access to your results, at a level you choose. See Consultant access. |
Tips#
- Give the lowest role that lets someone do their job.
- Use Facility Manager with facility access for site teams instead of a broader role.
- Review members and pending invitations regularly in Team & Access.
