Product carbon footprint
A product carbon footprint (PCF) estimates the greenhouse-gas emissions of one unit of a product across a defined part of its life cycle. ErgOps guides you through the inputs and keeps each footprint versioned.
Open Facilities → Product Carbon and select + Add Product.
Before you start#
- Managing products requires the Organization Manager or Sustainability Manager role. Facility Managers can work on products of their own facilities.
- Have your bill of materials, energy data and transport data for the period ready.
Build a footprint#
The wizard walks through these steps:
- Product — name and identifiers.
- Functional unit — what one unit means (for example 1 piece or 1 kg).
- Period — the production period the data covers.
- Boundary — Cradle-to-gate, Cradle-to-grave, Gate-to-gate or Custom (Custom requires a rationale).
- Materials — enter materials or Import BOM (CSV/XLSX, up to 500 rows).
- Energy — production energy, allocated to the product by production quantity, mass, machine hours, operating hours, revenue or a custom basis.
- Transport — reuse calculated transport activities for inbound and outbound stages.
- Waste
- Allocation — how shared inputs are split between products.
- Review
For each input choose a data method: primary activity, supplier-specific, secondary database, average data or estimated. Stages outside the chosen boundary cannot be added — for example use phase in a cradle-to-gate footprint.
Footprint statuses#

Important A footprint in ErgOps is a calculated result with documented inputs. It is not a certified or third-party verified footprint. ISO 14067 readiness in ErgOps helps you organize the work; it is not certification.
