Scope 3 and supply chain
Scope 3 covers emissions in your value chain — mostly from what you buy and how goods move. ErgOps builds Scope 3 from procurement records, supplier data and transport activity.
The Supply Chain group in the sidebar contains Procurement and Scope 3; the group page itself lists your suppliers.
Add suppliers#
- Open Supply Chain and select Add supplier.
- Enter the Name and Category (required), and optionally legal name, code, country, city, contact, email, annual spend and currency.
Request data from a supplier#
Ask a supplier for their own sustainability data instead of relying on averages:
- From a supplier, select Request sustainability data.
- Choose what you need — for example Scope 1 and 2 emissions, electricity and renewable share, water, waste, a product carbon footprint or certificates.
- ErgOps creates a secure, expiring link. Send it to the supplier.
- The supplier opens the link, uploads files and selects Submit securely — no ErgOps account needed.
- An Organization Manager reviews the submission and verifies or rejects it.
Import procurement data#
In Procurement, select Import procurement data or Import ERP export. See Import sustainability data for the steps and classification review.
How Scope 3 is calculated#
For each purchase ErgOps uses the best available method, in this order:
- Supplier specific — data provided by the supplier
- Activity based — physical quantities × a factor
- Spend based — spend × a spend-based factor
- Custom factor
Each record shows the method and Scope 3 category used. When a category cannot be determined, ErgOps assigns a default category with lower confidence, so it is visible for review.
The Scope 3 overview#
Scope 3 shows where emissions sit by category, your top supplier contributors, and how much of Scope 3 still relies on estimates. Use Review procurement to improve the records behind a category.
Tip Reducing reliance on spend-based estimates is usually the fastest way to improve Scope 3 quality. Start with your largest suppliers.
