Build a carbon inventory
Your carbon inventory brings Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions together for a reporting period. In ErgOps it is built from calculated source records — not typed in as totals.

Scope 1, 2 and 3 in ErgOps#

How activity data becomes emissions#
Every calculation follows the same pattern:
activity data × governed emission factor = emissions
For example, 10,000 kWh of electricity multiplied by an electricity factor in kgCO₂e/kWh gives kgCO₂e, reported in tCO₂e. ErgOps records the factor's source and version with each result, so you can see where a number came from. If activity data or a factor is missing, the result is Needs data — ErgOps does not estimate a replacement.
Set up the inventory#
Select Inventory settings and define:
- Period and Base year
- Boundary method — Operational control, Financial control, Equity share or Custom
- Boundary rationale — why this boundary fits your organization
- Recalculation policy — when you would restate the base year
Map activities to a framework#
Corporate GHG Framework Mapping shows each calculated activity, its facility, classification and emissions. Switch between GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1 views and select Refresh mapping after new calculations.
Common mapping statuses:
