Plan decarbonization investments

The Decarbonization Planner compares reduction initiatives by cost per tonne of CO₂e reduced and helps you choose a portfolio that fits your budget.

Open Plan → Decarbonization.

Add initiatives#

Select Add Initiative and enter, for each project:

  • capital cost, operating cost and expected savings
  • lifetime and discount rate
  • the emissions scope it reduces and the expected reduction
  • confidence in the estimate
  • groups for initiatives that overlap or exclude each other (for example two alternative boiler replacements)

Set the planning context at the top: Carbon target, Available budget, Internal carbon price and Discount rate.

Read the MACC#

The chart ranks initiatives by cost per lifetime tCO₂e reduced — a marginal abatement cost curve (MACC). Initiatives on the left reduce emissions most cheaply; negative costs mean the project saves money over its lifetime.

Build a portfolio#

  1. Select Suggested Low-Cost Pathway to let ErgOps pick the lowest-cost initiatives that fit your budget and respect exclusive groups.
  2. Adjust the selection.
  3. Select Save Portfolio. Portfolios are saved as drafts.

An Organization Manager can approve a portfolio. Approved portfolios are locked; duplicate one to create a new version.

Note The suggested pathway is a financial ranking. Engineering feasibility still requires your own review.
